A weekly look at what's happening around Cranberry Township — the news, the noise, and one local's take on both.
111 Ernie Mashuda Drive, Cranberry Township, PA 16066
Community Park sits at 111 Ernie Mashuda Drive, open sunrise to 11pm, with a half-mile trail loop, free WiFi (courtesy of Armstrong, same as several other Cranberry parks), and handicap-accessible facilities throughout.
The Rotary Amphitheater, sponsored by Armstrong, was remodeled and expanded in 2020. It hosts concerts, movies in the park, and exercise classes throughout the season.
The Rotary Dog Park is a four-acre off-leash dog park, built with a lead $45,000 contribution from the Cranberry Rotary Club, with separate areas for large and small dogs. Worth knowing if you’re used to Graham Park’s no-pets rule or North Boundary’s trail-only policy: dogs are actually welcome in the Rotary Dog Park and elsewhere in Community Park — the one exception is during Community Days week, when dogs aren’t permitted in the park.
Five lighted baseball/softball fields, a lighted football field with bleacher seating, four lighted tennis courts that double as two public pickleball courts, two sand volleyball courts, and a basketball court. Three picnic shelters — the Jaycees, Lions, and Rotary shelters — are available to rent for events.
Built for kids ages 2 through 12, with a small circular brick stage, terraced steps, and walkways woven through the play equipment — plus child-friendly restrooms right next door.
Alcohol is allowed by permit only. Otherwise, this is the most dog-friendly of Cranberry’s major parks — just remember Community Days week is the one exception.
Registration is now open for a range of fall recreation programs at Community Park and the UPMC Passavant Sportsplex, including youth sports leagues and adult fitness classes.
